Senior Mental Health Lead (Grant funded)
One Cornwall are collaborating with the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools, to develop a cohort of their ‘Beginner and Intermediate’ training courses for Cornwall.
The Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools has worked with over 2,000 schools nationally and internationally supporting schools to develop Senior Mental Health Leads through their training courses and other provision such as the School Mental Health Award.
Their Senior Mental Health Lead Training Courses have been approved to be on the Department for Education (DfE) approved training course framework.

Developing an in-depth Whole School Approach to Mental Health – Intermediate Level
If you are unsure of your training needs, there is a ‘learner needs analysis tool’ which will support you in understanding the levels. The link can be found here
Grant funding available
The Department for Education (DfE) have announced a training grant for all schools and colleges in England over the next 2 and a half years. A grant of £1200 is available to fund participation on a DfE approved programme.

This week the DfE have announced a further release of £3M in grants to be used for the senior mental health lead training.

Your place on the Senior Mental Health programme is not confirmed until:
- You have received a confirmation email from Carnegie
- You have applied for Grant funding from the DfE and received a confirmation code
- You have sent the DfE confirmation code to Carnegie.
