OneCornwall, Appropriate Body Provision
All schools that offer a statutory induction are required to register their Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with an approved Appropriate Body (AB).
Appropriate Bodies play a key role in statutory teacher induction and from September 2021, in addition to monitoring that Early Career Teachers receive their statutory entitlements, Appropriate Bodies will support schools and ECTs, to meet the new statutory guidance.
As a Teaching School Hub, OneCornwall will provide AB services to meet the needs of our region across all phases and settings. Through moderation and quality assurance, we will work collaboratively with schools to ensure that ECTs are fairly and consistently assessed. In line with the new guidance, we will also be conducting fidelity checks, ensuring that training and support provided by the school meets the ECF.
Our experience
We have significant experience of providing AB services in Cornwall and although the name has changed, you can still expect a highly experienced central point of contact for all schools and ECTs. We will provide a standardised approach across the region that is consistent yet personalised to meet the needs of all schools and their ECT.
